Default Thoughts on Cams.....

I am going to install a cam in the next two weeks. Any thoughts on what to go with? I will be calling Comp tomorrow to see what they reccomend, and Magna reccomended the Lingenfelter GTII cam...something like this: 207/220 .573"/.578" 118.5.

No more thinking about it...I am going to bite the bullet this time.

I'm running a 228/234 .588/.598 115+4 with 1.75 Comp Pro Magnum rockers. The cam only has 1 degree of overlap as not to bleed off any boost. As light as your truck is I think this cam would work. The hp peak would be about 6600 rpm in a 6.0.And the cam would work with Comp 918 valvesprings.

I think Ripped 427 is running a Comp 230/236 on a 115 LS and has 0 overlap.

I bet Comp will recommend their 54-424-11 (212/218, 558/563, 115). You'll be running the Radix, correct? If you have or are planning on head work, it would be a good cam. Might be wasted on stock heads, though.

Naah .. that's a little small for a 6. They recommended a 218/224 for me on the 5.3.

With a blower they recommended that cam? Well that would be interesting. That would mean that it depends on who you talk with there as to what advice you get, that they're not consistent.

In general, I was told not to go over 220 for a blown application.

It's all what you want to do with your truck. They don't always recommend their off the shelf grinds though. The 212/218 seems a little small to me. But, I am definitely not a cam expert.
