I got the black ceramic from Jethot.

Your truck is stock. Get a good tune. Headers suck without a tune anyway.

Then get a cam when you are ready.

If you still want headers after that, save enough to get something that you will be satisfied with.

My $.02

My truck is 4wd, and I dont feel right putting a huge dent in my new headers. That is why im ruling out the thought of using OBX......

When I do decide to get my headers I will be getting a tune at that time also. I do have another thread started comparing higher ratio rockers vs a mild cam. What are your thoughts on the higher ratio rockers? As it would be much easier to install these vs a cam. I know in terms of power a cam would dominate the rockers. But if and when I do get a cam I would go mild anywase.

I don't recall truckmann putting any dents in his headers. You should PM him and ask him yourself.

The Thorleys come chrome plated or coated. I had the plated ones for four years in Michigan where we generously use salt in the winter. While the headers turned blueish, there was almost no signs of rust.

How do Thorleys compare with most standard longtubes when it comes to performance?

Thorley's are considered a mid length header so they are better at low end torque and give up some HP above 6000 rpm

I have the OBX headers on my 4x4 with no problems. I've had my y pipe out 4 times, and each time I put it back together the header was touching something. All you have to do is loosen the header bolts, and the band clamps adjust them where you want them, and tighten the band clamps, then the header bolts. You can make the sit anywhere you want like that. I've got 1/4" to the frame on the passenger side, and 1/2" to the stearing shaft, and 3/8" to the front ds. I didn't think it was that big of a deal.
