I thought the coating was necessary to prevent o2 problems.

A coating is necessary for the oxygen sensors, most headers are shipped w/o any coating. Thorley's are shipped with a heavy nickle chrome coatng or ceramic coating. In 9k, the chrome has held up nicely. including a few 400 trips towing a 7500lb trailer. If the chrome were to fail, the towing is a good test and it passed.

I installed mine, chrome ones, this past weekend and have nothing but good to say about them. Nice gains, nice sound, overall a good product, especially for the price.

Another place to look at is LaPole custom headers in Annaheim. He is making some really nice headers. You can get them coated, too. He used to work for Jardine in the late 60s. He KNOWS how to make headers, and they last. Web site is LaPole Custom Headers. I've known him for 40 years, and he is a perfectionist. It will be right, or he won't let it out the door.
