Default Thorley owners got a few ?s

The Thorleys just seem the way to go for me. Long tubes at a great price. I just have a few questions. First off, is anyone running them on a 6.0L? How difficult was the install? I noticed summit says they don't come with header bolts. Is that true, and do you have to buy bolts seperate? How do they perform? Any answers are greatly appreciated.

If you check the classifieds, and search for that 427 RC that the spdc guy was trying to sell, you'll run across he was running Thorleys on his 6.0L.

Install was easy.

Mine came with header bolts.

Performance is definetly there. I keep changing my mind, but for the time being I wish I would of gone with ASM's. They just look like a very tuned header, that would work great with increased air flow. Just my opinion.

I had some trouble on install with the drivers side header hitting the steering shaft and not exactly matching up at the cat. Well I got it lined up easy enough with the cat, but I had to make a custom steering shaft. I called thorley about it and they were more than happy to exchange it but I had my cat flanges already cut and the pass. header on so I solved the problem myself instead of waiting a couple of weeks for a new one. I understand that there is manufacturing tolerance for the headers and the components on the truck and I think I had a freak truck and header where both tolerances worked against me. I would buy them again if given the chance.

I was wondering the same thing if I should go with the Thorleys or TOG or ASM. I just know that the thorleys are a 1 5/8 tube vs the 1 3/4 and I am looking at getting head work done so who knows I may save up the 700 dollars for TOG or ASM.

I love my Thorleys, but install on my truck wasnt pretty. They had a harder time b/c of the blower on the driver's side and then they couldnt get one up in there. I think they are hitting something when I turn the wheel all the way. The sound difference is night and day. Its MUCH louder and sounds raspy even at idle. The midrange powrr increase is almost unbelievable.

I was thinking Thorleys but I think with adding on a coating fee, they will be close to the cost of others. I may go for the LaPoles since they are coated (but mids) for $595 or the ASM or TOGs if/when I get some headers.

I wouldn't waste money having them coated either.
