Question Thinking of putting LS1 heads on a truck...Any Gain???

A buddy has a set of #241 heads that he pulled off. He just put some Patriot's on his and have no use for these. He said that he would just give them to me. He has already milled them ".025". Will this help me? Would I need to mill them an additional .010 or .015 for them to help? As far as I know, the only difference is that my intake valve is 1.89" and his are 2.00". I wouldn't mind a little more airflow. Any suggestions???

If you had a 6.0 I'd say go ***** deep. If you mill them and port them maybe. But even then to put my 6L at 10.5 (where I wanna be) I need to mill them and porting them will make them flow better

for the labor of swapping hads, buying gaskets, and re-tuning.. i wouldnt **** with it, JMO

not much difference in head/port design from your 5.3 heads... wouldnt make enough difference unless you are giong to have them really worked (5 angle valve job, p/p)

I agree, I dont think you would gain much at all by swapping to those heads.

It actually a popular mod to put cnc'd 5.3 heads on a ls1. It gets the c/r up a bit.
