Default Thinking about a MUCH bigger cam. 254/254

LIFT .581 INTAKE AND EXHAUST. DURATION AT .050 IS 254/254 WITH A 114 LOBE SEPERATION.

Made by Comp

So what do ya think? I think i can tune it to run in my 5.3 for 5 months with a 3500 stall. But after that i will have the 402 with Stage 3 heads and it will be bad *** then.

Trying for high 11's all motor.

Damn!! Thats a big Cam! I would think the power band on a 5.3 would be like 5500 and up! Have you at least upgraded springs yet? That thing will probably rock your truck back and forth in the 402 as well! Go for it and let us know how it goes . If it were me, I would leave it on the floor until the 402 came. Im not looking forward to my cam install, but I sure as hell wouldnt be putting something like that in just to take it out in a few months.

It would be all top end power in most anything. But if a T-rex will make a stock ls1 jump 100rwhp then i wonder what this thing would do. I may have to shift it at 7000+rpms.

Do you already have the stall? Are you going for more stall with the 402? I will probably be doing a 402 or 408 this year, but will be staying with a baby blower cam. Who are you going with for the 402? Could you possibly PM me what you are getting it for. I can never seem to get any time between 9-5 to make any calls

In the 5.3L i say bad news and substantial loss of ET unless you are runnig 12:1 static compression ... power will be very binaryand too close to max rev range to be usable ... drop some weight off the truck get a 4400+ stall converter and make sure you can spinthe motor well in to 7K and you might have a winner. Other wise i see a lot of work with no ET .. maybe dyno but highest HP doesnt always net best ET.

It would just be to play with in the 5.3. I'd spin the **** out of it till either the 5.3 ran faster than ever before, or blew.

Greentahoe, I'm getting the 402 from SLP and the heads from Patriot. Combined should be about $5500, or the price of a Radix. I was planning on something close to the T-Rex for cam, but not much bigger. I will be ordering the 3500 stall in the next 2 weeks. I still have to drive the thing around town, so i really dont want anymore stall. A level5 4L60E is in the near future also. I just dont want an 80E.

Im pretty torn between the HPE 408 and the SLP 402. What made you decide to go with the SLP?

Mostly price. The SLP is $3900 and the 408 is a good bit more. Both have forged rods, pistons, crank, and ARP bolts. I dont think the extra 6ci will make much more power for the price difference.
