Default Thinking about larger cam, pros/cons?

As of right now I have a 216/220 .525 .532 114Lsa comp cam and have pretty good results with it at the track. It sounds pretty good and pulls good in my truck. But after I put in my stall, it seems to have ate up alot of my top end pull and is leading me to think that I need a larger cam.

So I am thinking about trying the Patriot Performance 226/226 .585 .585 112+2
(https://www.patriot-performance.com/...&cat=49&page=1)

The only thing I am worried about is the lift on this cam. I am running stock 862 heads, and will most likely be keeping them stock for awhile. Will having this high of lift on stock heads actually hurt my performance?

Also, will I gain a noticeable amount of power switching to this bigger cam? Would it be worth it?

give it a try. if it dont perform well, it shouldnt be hard to get rid of. if all else fails, atleast it would sound bad ***

the 5.3s flow more at 600 than 550, so no problems there

What are the lobes on that cam? $280 is damn cheap for a new cam

I read somewhere that they buy their cams from Comp.

what's your full list of mods?

Personally i'd go even bigger on the cam because i recall you have like a 3800-4000 stall.

like he said though, stock heads.

looks like a good choice to me, 224-226 will be big, but you have the right setup for it

cam,4.10s,full bolt ons, built tranny, 4k stall

It's my DD so I don't know if i want to go too much bigger than that cam unless it's not going to hurt my MPG that much more than it already is.

he's already got a 216/220....im not sure going to a 224 even warrants a cam swap. Dozer dan is running a 232/237 or someting like that in his 5.3. He'd probably be the best one to ask about which cam to go with.
