Moregrip it right, toss it around weigh all options, and it depends on your miles and cyl. taper,if you dont bore it you will save dollars and have 402 which still is OK. Look again at the built shortblock 408 for what? $3300 and figure out what you can sell your complete good running shortblock engine for.Less down time

Seriously though bro, you know I wish you all the best. My advice is let everything soak in a few days and then make your final decision.
When it's all said and done I'd say your looking at 5k either way, or at least I'd plan on that much, little things always seem to find a way to pop up.

Yelo if your in the 5K range and moregrip is suggesting tossing on a radix on your 6.0 maybe a better matched cam have your comression below 10.1 I have to agree that may make you very happy and simple too. That, provided you have all the confidence in your current engine, only you know if its doing anything wierd and what its been though and the miles. But if you did a sweet fresh 408 now and plans for a turbo later welp say no more.

I'm totally set on NA for now....a Radix is just plain out of my price range for now, that and I'm bound and determined to hand moregrip his *** NA !!!

I'l like to do the bigger cubed engine but really have no experience in doing so....every motor I've ever had has either been stock displacement or destroked for higher rpm's (put a 305 crank into a 350 sometime...you can spin the snot out of one of those things !!)

I'm pretty set on the the 408 as long as I can get some help in putting this thing together the right way....I'd like to think about the 402 as well because as long as the block is in good shape I'd save the cost of the shortblock/machining and only have to buy the rotating assembly...this would leave me more money for the "little things" that pop up

What kind of RPM's can a 402/408 turn safely ???

Im interested to find out what the max rpm you can spin that hing I dont know what the limit on my 418 is going to be. Let knwo if you do decide to go with a 4.100 stroke I can save you alot of heartache and steer you clear of all the rpoblems what I ran into.

I drink and type all the time but then again I cant type when Im stone cold sober thats whyu the disclaimer is in my sig

I believe one of the keys to longevity of the engine and everything attached to it is build and design the engine to peak not extremly high, keep the ***** no more than 6200-6300 RPM ( heavy truck application)

6200rpm's is my max shift.....I'm not sure the 4L80e will repeatedly take a shift much higher than that (GM rates them to only 5500rpm)
