I've ran a HyperTech 160* Thermo for 4 Years with no problems.

you can add a BB (bb gun bb) to the stock stat. push down and twist the spring loaded inerds out and place a BB in the hole in the housing. then put everything back together. easy and simple.

SLP sells the 160* t-stat shipped pretty cheap, unless yours requires the entire replacement of the housing and t-stat.
I think mine was about $30.00 shipped from them.

I bought my hypertech 160* thermostat off another member on here for like $45 shipped or something like that. Havent installed it yet though. Ill do it when i do my exhaust and tune.

I ended up getting a hypertech 180... about the same price and simple install.

i know u can get them frmo autozone...they have the opening temp in the item number i believe.

looking at t-stats for a v6 camaro and u could get colder stats etc. when i worked there...

looked on autozones site...u can get the Hypertech 160 degree for $60

Got my Hypertech 160* from TBryne for $49.99. The 160* begins to open at 160*F and should be fully open at 175*F. I data logged mine and that is pretty much how it works but my guage reads 87.5*C = 189.5*F. My gauge read 97.5*C = 207.5*F with the stock stat. They must have marked the gauge incorrectly when they converted it form Fahrenheit to Celsius.

the factory gauges are just not very acurate. They are just more of an idiot light.
