well its a stock bottom end and we need it to be very streetable but run a decent 12 sec pass. Nice sounding cam, nothing crazy

Not happening unless you change to an aftermarket intake that will allow you to change fuel injectors. Research the Marine intake for the L31. Also you cannot rev past 5800 unless you actually swap the pcm to a newer van PCM.

Just swap a 5.3 or 6.0 in and start there. Modding the L31 is not worth it imo.

its actually very worth it and much cheaper. the only thing is with it being a 96 it could be a roller cam which might be a little more expensive for the cam but its so easy to make power from a 350. my suggestion is swap it to carb. its still very streetable, just get one with a choke if you live in colder climates although i didnt run one in my jimmy and it started fine even on the coldest wisconsin winter day. thats a way to make easy power on them. and its a vortech so i would leave the heads alone. i say as long as the bottom end is good, throw some good springs in it a good cam and a holley 650 with a vortech intake and you would be good to go maybe pull the heads and have them milled for higher compression. thats easy hp.

Get new heads, I regret that I just ported them and had them machined for the extra lift. Stock heads and with +.50 locks and retainers yougan get up to maybe .530 MAX and that still may be too high.

It is a hydraulic roller cam and with just h/c you WILL NOT achieve your goal. A guy in my town has a ECSB OBS vortec 383 like me with a 218/228 ported heads, stall, etc etc and runs like a 13.7ish.

Better to go with a motor swap.

Vortech? oh so you must have a centerifigul supercharger? No, it is Vortec.

As I said above these are the limits with the stock L31 intake which also limits your fuel because the injectors are not interhchangeable unless you do the newer poppet design which was just to replace the old ones on recall.

He never mentioned if he was willing to change to a carb setup.

It is not a spelling error, it is a stupidity error. A spelling error would occur once or twice and be inconsistent while calling it the wrong thing over and over the same way would be not knowing.
