Default Is there any benefit to having EVAP vs deleting it?

I deleted EVAP in the pcm and capped off the intake inlet behind the TB and the line on the truck behind the intake when I did heads/cam/intake swap. I can get the solenoid and the 2 lines for a total of about $50 and have the Evap system working properly again. Is there any real benefit to having it?

Every once in awhile if my truck has sat for 10-30 minutes and I go to get back in it, it'll turnover 10+ times before it starts. I have no idea if Evap has anything to do with it or not. This happens rarely.

I appreciate any help here.

EVAP helps keep the tank dry. If you use fuels containing ethanol the system will definitely reduce tank condensation. However, I've had mine disabled for years and haven't had water issues since I burn fuel so rapidly.

Yea all fuels here have up to 10% ethanol. I run 93 and it's my DD so a full 26 gallon tank lasts me as little as a week and as much as 2 weeks

Also it's vented at the tank correct? Because I capped it off behind the intake at the truck and at the front of the intake but it's still vented at the tank right?

The purpose is to pull fuel vapors out of the tank and burn it in the intake instead of releasing it to the air. Its an emissions thing.

Right, but the tank is vented other than just to the Evap system right?

I dont think it is actually... maybe very little through the filler cap to prevent huge amounts of vacuum on a long haul when you are burning a lot of fuel... but otherwise its fairly air tight.

I had an issue with my EVAP when i first switched to the NNBS intake and when i pulled my gas cap off the truck would idle and lope like hell because it was creating a vacuum leak.

I used some 5/8 hose to a remote filter on the evap port on the bucket so the tank can vent. Otherwise you cant fill it up at a gas pump if you just cap it off.

Well no issues at the pump. Truck runs awesome. Every part of Evap is still there except it's capped off where you would have a line going from truck to valve on the rail.

Not too worried about that part of it. I'll be long gone before it's an issue. And I guarantee when it is an issue, they won't be pointing fingers back at me. Plenty other reasons for that lol
