Default Texas-Speed (PRC) 5.3 heads

I'm looking at these

PRC 220cc 5.3L Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads

Anyone have any experience with these? I was going to get AFR 205's (because they are CARB approved) but these are so much cheaper and they are GM castings so I shouldn't need to worry about smog.

I've heard lots of good things about Texas-Speed but am looking for specific feedback on these heads.

Right now I have the mods listed below and would like to add a radix next year.

Thanks for your input

I also posted this question over on ls1truck. One response from Blue Cajan, said he would buy the stage 1 heads for a 5.3. No other information about them yet other than Allen has a set for sale. I called him and left a VM asking for more info.

Hey thanks Lance. I was wondering why you would choose the stage 1 heads vs the others including the AFR's. I'm kind of new at this and was reading articles using the AFR's and the PRC stage 2.5 with gains of 40-50 RWHP on a 5.3.

I am planning on adding a Radix in the future would the larger heads benifit me more then?

Thanks again for your input.

scott

what i was trying to say over on ls1truck was that those stage 2.5 valves are too big for the bore of a 5.3. you will run into valve shrouding with those 2.04 valves. 2.00 would be the max i would go.

i looked into this, and i agree with blue cajun. Maximum valve on a 5.3 bore is 2", so stage 1 would work good. I only saw those heads available on texas speed's site in a package with a cam etc.. what's the price for just the heads?

I'm not sure. I only see the 5.3 heads in a stage 1.5 with 2.02 valves. The LS6 heads come in a stage 1 though with the 2.0 valves. I'll try to give them a call tomorrow.

call them and they can have them milled to keep your stock compression.
