Go drive an LB7 then the newer LL7...the new motor is sooooooo much better!

Don't forget these trucks weigh 7000lbs or so typically. They defuel a LOT in 1st gear and the big power comes on in 2nd gear. They aren't fast stock, but they run well for what they are...well until you call up Edge or Quad...then Suncoast as your converter is toast.

i drove one made in early april.

How much "edge" can they take in stock form? Id like to use it every here and there and when I go to the sand dunes maybe. Def not for daily driving; well maybe a 25-40hp boost

I don't know, you'd have to know if it had EGR, Variable Vane Turbo, Cat, etc. You can hear the turbo spool on the new motors easily.

25-40hp only? ****...the stock converter will begin to slip around +100RWHP/200RWTQ! With a good converter from Suncoast and a TransGo it should hold that Edge Hot Juice fine.

They range from ~40-150hp I believe are the ratings...

um stock is about 240 rwhp and 430 rwtq. our one and ONLY mod is the edge hot juice with attitude monitor. 403 rwhp and 850 rwtq. the stock convertor is holding us back, otherwise it would make MORE power. damn defueling. um, i can do a burnout for honestly a city block. 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. 7000 lbs truck. stock they are pretty boring but not bad for what they are. once you get the turbo spooled up and launch off the transbrake, oh yea! otherwise, if you just come off idle, it feels like it bogs down from the big turbo.

it isnt really that boring to me anymore.....

a stock duramax is kinda boring, but like anything with a turbo on it when it's not on boost it bites. with some mods they are pretty cool, but stock they are.....

Doesnt a basic HPP3 add like 97hp and 130ftlb over stock, and get better milage? I may be a little off on the exact numbers, but close.

The one on Trucks made 450rwhp with a Bully dog chip and propane. More with N2O.

I wouldn't mind a Duramax if i could trade in all my other projects. Deisels are awsome because of the torque and reliability.

Get a Cummins. 800 hp on diesel and water/meth and daily driven. Did I mention he gets 18 or so on the freeway? And tows on occasion? There's a guy in town knocking 600 hp down on his and tows cattle during the summer. Completely streetable with almost zero smoke. He's also knocking down high teens for mileage. Check out www.gm-diesel.com and www.dieseltruckresource.com for more info.

i'd rather have an allison. The transmission is the most important part ot me. all engines will last long but the allison trans blows the others away
