Tbss swap and questions
#1
I bought a tbss and a 92mm tb from a guy in here a while back. I was looking and comparing them the other day and tryin to see how hard the swap is going to be. It's going on a 01 5.3.
Yes I have searched and read a lot about this.
I know I have to put spacers in the fuel rails so they will bolt up and use longer bolts.
I know I have to modify the cable bracket so it will bolt onto the tbss.
Also have to fab up a fuel cross over and weld on new fittings. Can a regular mig welder be used to do this?
I don't know what goes here where the little piece with the hole is sticking up
This is what I have now. Do I use the peace that's got the 90 degree bend in it? And what is it? What about the other price with the wires on it? What is that and where does it go in the swap? Is it part of the evap system?
What wires or plug plugs into here? Is it the one from the previous picture? I looked and they aren't the same.
Will this hose hook right into the piece on the back of the tbss?

Can y'all tell me what kinda of fuel system I have? Return or non return?

Also I you could list any other helpfull advise an what is what on the intake right now. For ex. Like what the evap is and were the main fuel line is and what other parts I new to purchase.
Thanks guys! Sorry for the newbness here.!! Videos for showing what's what would be awesome, I'm a visual learner.

Bump
So after some reading I found that the second picture, the little 90 degree fitting thingy goes on the first pictures stem with the hole.
What do I do with the other part that is right next to it with the wires and plug that plugs into it?
I'm guessing I have a return style fuel system, so does that mean I need a Corvette fuel filter? Or can I leave the lines how they are and just make spacers do the fuel rails?
Also still need to know what plugs into the top of the tbss on picture # 3.

Your setup is just like the one write up: cable tb and return style fuel... There are compression to an fuel fittings available too. Probably 3/8 to -6 is what you need along with a couple straight -6 and some hose. Pushlock would work too.

Im about to do the same swap as soon as i get my heads back and i figure out what to do about my tunes.. (i have two PCMs lol)
anyway, You have a return setup, use a corvette fuel filter , your two fuel lines on your stock 01 intake will pop into the filter just like it was on the rail, then all you gotta do is bend the TBSS feed line up and out and pop the vette filter on there... use the stock TBSS fuel rail... it works with all injectors.. they aren't taller than the stock 02 ones i don't think.
I hope you have 243/799 or aftermarket heads because the bigger intake and throttle body will make you lose power across the board. the intake runners on a 706 head slow down the air alot.

So they have a compression type fitting that doesnt require welding?
Whats the -6 about?

So your saying it wouldnt be worth it to swap them out?
If I do do it, I will probably try not to use a filter and just put fittings on for the cross over.
I dont have TBSS fuel rail. Everything will be stock other then the intake itself.
Also what plugs into the thing where the wires go?

that would be your map sensor, pull out the tbss one if it came with it, and pull yours off your stock intake.
yeah i know theres been 2 cases where people lost power.. i saw one post here on PT. i think the guys name is gray matter. that's why i waited until i got 799 heads
