We get blow 0 here in the winter and my has been bypassed and never hooked back up. No issues at all. Forget the ball valve just by pass it.

Oh I doubt you'll have issues, but I bet your fuel economy and performance in general will go up alot if your coolant is circulating through your TB.

i guess I don't know how the coolant lines are run. My concern with the ball valve is that I don't want to bypass anything but the TB. By placing the ball valve in front of the TB, will I be bypassing anything else?

If you place it in front of the TB I think you would because the coolant loops front the radiator to the intake manifold. I say just bypass it the only thing that will suffer will be your cold weather performance when the motor isn't fully up to temp. I have done it to mine and did it to my Z28 I used to have. The main benefits is cooler air is more dense (the reason F/I cars run an intercooler) and having your intake air heated to the temp of the coolant. 180+ degrees or better could only hurt hp. Besides it is free, try it....you don't like it keep the short tube and install it back. Time lost will be less than 30 minutes total IF you rode the short bus to and from school.

Besides that it just took you longer to read the 4 pages of this thread than it would have for you to bypass the lines.

Right now it is around 90 degrees. My winters get like 25 to 30 degrees and that is it. I have seen snow maybe 4 times in my life while living in the south. It is awesome because I also ride motorcycles and my riding season is pretty much year round.

By itself, it's not so much the cold outside.

Mine froze on me. I still have it bypassed, actually, with the 90mm mod, I don't have it anymore anyways.

I think my TB pulls enough heat off the blower that it couldnt freeze. Hell its hot to touch this time of year.
