Supercharger questions: Whipple
#1
Hey guys this is my first post, I finally registered instead of just reading the forums.
I know there are a lot of guys on here that know their stuff, so I was wondering if some of you can help me out a bit.
I have a 01 4.8L, only performance mods are flowmaster and knn filter. I just bought a Whipple Supercharger, and was wondering are there any mods that I should have done before I put on the supercharger?
I definitely want to get the most performance possible, and I know there are some mods I should probably have done before I bolt it on.
Can someone explain a 3000 stall? How much do those run? How about posi traction in the back? I know I will probably be spinning the tires without it. How about 4.10 gears? Would those help at all? Can someone explain cams? Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance I will be checking this thread often.
yay for my new whipple!

welcome, there are ton's of mods you could do that would complement the whipple, prety much everything that you would do without the whipple will work with the whipple.
best thing you can do is just read all you can on here and try and decide what you want to do first. the mods you mentioned are good ones. stall, 4.10's, posi, would all help a ton, everyone says exhasut is extra important with a blower. there are some free mods you could do, and alot of bolt on's that would get you a little here and a little there, even a motor swap is popular around here.

I had found a guy on eBay that was selling a complete rear end overhaul kit, which came with an Eaton Posi, and a new set of gears, as well as all the bearings you would/should need for around $500.
I would put at the very least a level 2 shift kit in your truck. The extra line pressure from the shift kit will help keep things from slipping in there.
I would consider running true duals, and something a little more freer flowing than your FlowMaster, unless you really like the sound of them. A set of long tube headers will certainly complement the exhaust as well as the blower.
Some type of new intake system would be beneficial as well, as the stock box only pulls through 2 little oval holes and seems to me like it would be a little to constrictive for a forced induction engine.
Your bigger stall torque convertor will let the engine wrap up higher before it starts to pull. It works by multiplying the amount of torque that goes into the transmission, which would cause for the shift kit even more. It also makes it feel a bit sportier to drive cause it isn't as stiff feeling.
