I might be changing my differential fluid oil this weekend. I installed my Eaton posi in early June and never did the recommended fluid change @ 500 miles. It's been a little over 2K miles and I think it's time now. What weight and brand of fluid do you recommd? What about friction addative? What brand and where can I get it. I want maximum traction and would not mind a little clutch chatter. What friction additive to lubricant combination would I go for this set up?

I did a eaton also.Talked to the tech at randys ring and pinion.I went with vavaline 80-90 blended (semi-synthetic) and for limited slip additive, the ford stuff was like $3 and the GM was $8 and the ford is supposed to be a better additive, heard it from a couple axle guys.

File...
Well, on the stock G80 (go and laugh) I did 75/90 syn with 4oz of LSD additive.
My Eaton paperwork for the LSD I have by them for my F-150 recommends what weight of oil to use and the LSD additive. For some reason I think they recommended a slightly heavier weight for their LSD unit.
Um, be sure to get the fill plug off FIRST...then pull the drain plug. It'd be bad to drain the stuff and not be able to refill it...
Any quality gear oil should be fine...Valvoline, Castrol, Mobil, etc. Just be weary that stuff smells like ***.

i would use the 75/90 with the ford friction mod. thats what i used when i changed mine. ford has a new friction mod called xl-7 designed for the 75-90 fluid. the old ford stuff is xl-3.

I know the papers and stuff that came with the Eaton recommend a specific oil weight and friction modifier. They even gave GM part numbers.
Let me see if I can find it.

Use Redline 75/90, and it already comes with a small amount of torque addative. It may chatter just a little though, but that sounds like you don't care. I used the same oil, and a little addative on top, and I get the smallest amount of chatter, not bad at all.
