Default Stupid Question Im sure, but what the hell

Ok, I just got the quote for the new Dynomax header/cat combo for the new body style 07's, and needless to say I dont think the horsepower to price ratio is worth it. So here is my question.

A Corvette block and a Silverado Block are the same correct? If the blocks are the same, with the internals being the only thing different, thus the difference between 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0, can you put Corvette exhaust manifolds on a 5.3L Silverado. I cant believe that the exhaust manifolds on a corvette are the same ones that they put on a silverado, it seems to me they have to flow more air, so would you notice a gain in horsepower/torque?

I dont claim to be a GM mechanic, so If Im wrong, feel free to call me an idiot. If Im right, would the change be worth it?

They will fit the block but not the truck.

Why would you want to do this? You would accomplish the same thing by buying a set of shorty headrs that will actually fit you "truck"...like Trever just mentioned.

There's very little diffrence between each of the OEM manifolds except fitment in the particular engine bay. I'd just keep my stok manifolds if you're not going to do a set of headers.

But that's just my opinion.

I want headers, they just dont make any longtubes for this truck, and I cant see spending 1200 dollars for dynomax, that to me just seems a bit expensive, and currently only Dynomax makes headers for the 07', and I have been told shorties are worthless.

My logic was if Corvettes make more horsepower, then they have would need bigger exhaust manifolds to remove the exhaust gases, especially if they have bigger cylinders, more in = more out. Like I said, stupid question, but it couldnt hurt to ask.

PM Tybrne and see what he's got to offer for the 2007 NBS Trucks. But in al reality if you just give it a couple of months, Pacesetter will come out with a new header for them. Trust me.

The 1200 dollar quite was from Tybrne, thats too much money for some headers and 2 cats, and apparrently they dont offer just headers....Last time I talked with Pacesetter a couple weeks ago the tech guy said they had nothing in the works. Im wondering if the Active Fuel Management system is throwing them off.

Dynatechs are worth every penny It's all about what you wanna spend.
I thought about this when I put my headers on, maby you should take your maniflods off get a dremil tool and open em up. Just gasket match em try a search on here maby someone has done it already and can tell you more about it or what you can expect.

the corvette block and truck block are different. the vette block is a 5.7L aluminum block as the truck block is a 5.3L iron block, they have different bores but the 5.3 can be bored to make a 5.7.

the vette also has a car style intake manifold for high-rpm hp and larger displacement with better flowing heads, slightly larger cam, etc.

there is a guy on here with a 2wd NNBS rcsb truck and he put the 99-06 pacesetters on and they fit fine

I thought about trying the 06 pacesetters, it doesnt seem to me that the engine bays are any different from RCSb to a CCSB, all they change is the *** end, not the front end. If I go with the 06 Pacesetters should I also go with the OFY, or hook straight to the stock crossover and cats?

And Im not positive about this, but 99% positive, but I believe I have an aluminum block in my truck, not that that matters much.
