Default STS problem

I thought I had an exhaust leak. No problems with the exhaust leaking. The noise is coming out the tail pipe. It sounds just like an exhaust leak. The turbo sounds like it is spooling up much faster than normal, but it does not pull hard. The rpms climb, but the power is not there. Any thoughts or suggestions.

I take it you see no boost on the guage??

Have you tried to take the piping off and the air filter and see if both impellers are spinning by hand?

No gauge yet. Gonna rig one up tomorrow to see what is going on. I'll also try spinning the impellers by hand. I'm sure it is spooling up. Part throttle shifting from 1-2 will bark the tires pretty good. After the shift the engine winds up but the truck does'nt pull much more than without the turbo.

Sounds like you have a coupler on the charge piping that has pushed apart. Check all of them.

Ahh ok./

You've gone over all the obvious stuff though like tube leaks under boost, your plugs are gapped right, fuel pressure etc?

Thanks beeftip. Hopefully it will be something minor.

Just put new plugs in yesterday. Autolite 103s gapped at .035. Ran the truck tonite for a little with Hptuner. Did not see anything to indicate that there was a problem. Other than the air flow being lower on the maf. All hoses and wiring seems to be OK.

Check the silicon. I've blown a couple off and then it just kinda bogs around like you describe.

Gonna check all the silicone couplers again this morning. The noise that sounds like an exhaust leak coming from the tail pipe has me confused. I'm wondering if one of the cats is messed up.
