Saw the same problem on overboost on the Dodge. There are two bungs for the wastegate tap on the compressor. If you are hooked up to the one nearest the outlet to the intake tract then change to the one closer to the compressor housing center ( might have to feel along the top of the snail ).
This put our boost right on 5psi and also helped with the spikes when shifting.
BTW, I cannot get boost just revving in neutral or in gear with the brakes on. Those with a stall above 2500rpm can tho...might be due to the drive by wire TB. Did not see the year of truck in the sigs.

You should not see boost at idle as everyone already stated.
If you are overboosting be prepared to start blowing up driveline components.
I say take it easy until you get your boost to run at what it suposed to be for what you bought.
Above 5psi you will need more fuel via larger injectors and maybe even a fuel pump depending on how high your going to boost.
The next thing would be an intercooler for above 5psi or you AITs will be up around 150-180 degrees
. You don't want that!!!!
I'm already looking into the intercooler for my base kit , then injectors and icreasing the boost a bit more than 5psi.

O.K to clear everything up (for me?). I took the truck out and drove it, turns out it does make about 6-7 psi with a few 8 psi spikes, the gauge was hooked up right the first time and like everyone else has posted I cant see boost unless the engine has a load. Who’s the dumb *** now? (ME)
LOL
As far as the over boost I'm not too worried about it now, I have the fuel pump and injectors to support the higher boost levels. Unfortunately the truck is not done and won’t be for about 5 days. (I still have to hook up the alky and wide band)
The truck is a 00' with a 02 ECM.
P.S the truck is feels very fast.

I put the y-pipe with two 3" tailpipes and it's noticeably louder than when it was just the Turbo dumping out!
