I inquired with John Barrett racing engines the first time this motor was on Ebay and didn't reach its reserve. He told me the reserve was $1600 BUT, the crank was for the 4L80E. Maybe the person who answered my email didn't know, but thats what he told me. I ask if he had any for the 4L60E, and he said NOPE! Hope it works out for ya, but I'll be pissed if I missed out! LOL

Ok well my motor is at the shop with my truck so I will have to call and have them check it out.
If I do have the crank that only works with the 4L80E can I simply swap the crank from my other engine? Are there any differences in the blocks? I hope I didn't get screwed here.
What do people do when they upgrade to a 4L80E? Do they have to change cranks also?

dont sweat it just yet, so far every motor with aluminim heads is the right crank for the 4l60e and the one they have pictured looks like a flush flange to me.
on the newer style motors they use a crank spacer when mating with an 80 and just leave the spacer out when not mated to a 60

Keep us posted. I may get back with Barrett engines and get me one if everything is everything. Like I said, I'm just telling you what they told me when I first bid on that very engine like 2-3 weeks ago, but whomever answered my email may have been confused.

Parish8, I went down my current path due to finding a cheap 5.3L motor ( $300 shipped ). I would have loved to do a 6.0L but I am having too much fun with the smaller block so far. It may be on my list of projects but for now the 5.3 to 5.7 conversion is a blast. I am picking up the block today and hope to be going back together soon. I'll keep updating as I progress.
Again, thanks for all the posts and suggestions! Ain't the internet fun, finding all this info out a couple of years ago would have been next to impossible.

Well I just talked to the shop and they said the crank is for the 60.
Man you guys really had me worried. I hope this week or the next the motor will get installed and I can tell you guys how it runs. Then I get to start building my old engine. Thanks again for all the info guys, if nothing else I learned something through all of this.

IF YOU LOOK IN DEALER SPECS SI2000 THE PISTONS ARE THE SAME FOR 02 & 03.
