I been in and out of this website for some time already and have learned alot from your projects and performance mods. Now that I really want to get into some serious perfomance mods for my 2 dr 98 Tahoe. I know that its not a LS1 engine but I hope you guys can help me. I just paid my credit card and I can't wait to max it out again. Wohoo $10,000 credit line.

Currently I have mod my vortec 5.7 with a best in 1/4 mile of 15.4

My Current plan:

Magnacharger kit for the 5.7
BBK 80 MM TB
2700 Stall Converter
TransGo Shift Kit
Trans Cooller
Westers Garage Tuning
Crane Cam <----- Still need help on which one

Shooting for a high 12's.

This is what I have in mind. What do you guys think about my plan. Any suggestions on what other parts I need to make this setup last.

Doesn't sound like a bad plan to me. It's a proven combo just a different motor than what we deal with in here. Just make sure you can get tuning for the truck. That would be my main concern.

I say trade it in on a NBS with the 5.3 so you're able to fuel it with bigger injectors and give it a good tune. You'll be happier with the aftermarket and power capabilities of the new ls1 based engine IMO.

Black Blown 02,

That one concern that I have if I will be able to provide the suffient fuel and not go lean on it. But I want to try something different and stay with the 5.7.

The injectors aren't replaceable on those old 5.7's. Fueling is going to be a little scary.

I'll bet you could run a high 12 in a NBS tahoe with a Radix at 10psi, dynotune, a 3000 stall, and slicks. All on stock internals. And it would be way more reliable.

Otherwise, I'm not sure how much help youll get on this forum. Our expertise is with the LS1 style engines.

I say do a 6.0 swap with a radix and get a 3000 stall you'll be happy with that.

Ya, Id go for an LSX style engine or maybe even sell it and get a NDS tahoe to start.
On another note. I paid for Wester's tuning for my Tahoe since he assured me that tuning for a Vortech and 43lb injectrors would be no problem. That was the biggest waste of $500 ever. I had to pay a local guy $420 just so it would run. Ive since purchased HPTuners and may have to pay for a baseline tune again since so much will have changed with the cam, meth, and additional boost.
