You gained low end? Most guys report of loosing low end but gaining it up top...I've considered gutting mine but I don't want to lose what little low end I have lol.

but as far as being like a WOW difference, nothing. But why gut them, just cut them right near the weld, get some 2.5" pipe and cut it to length and weld it in, its what i did. I did about 80% of the welding with it still on the truck. I dropped the y-pipe down just to finish up my shitty welding job.

a friend of mine tuned his '04 5.3 trailblazer, then cut the converters off, and lost 20ft lbs of torque down low, with NO tune changes.
he started tuning on it, found that without the converters, it liked 4* more timing than before, it gained 30ft lbs (10 more than before the converter removal) and even more gains up top.
I'd say, if you remove the converters, make it MANDATORY that you re-tune your ride.
I'm thinking of doing this myself, as I really can't justify buying LT's for my daily-driver, both financially, and PITA wise, of working around them.

yea i figured on just gettin another y from a junk yard or somethin and weldin up some straight pipe to it i have plenty of spare pipe layin around to do it
as far as visual inspection if where your from there that picky about **** just cut the outer heat shield off and tack weld it over the straight pipe that u just installed and they will never know as long as they just do a mirror walk around. thats what ive seen some guys do here.
