Default Head swap for LQ4?

Ok so I got the famous busted exhaust manifold thats probably gonna require pulling the head to get the bolt machined. Im not a fan of pulling stock heads to put them back on, I have heard there are other options to swap on that will raise the CR a little. Was it L76 or LS6? Not really wanting to swap intakes but if I have to swing for a fast 90 than so be it.

Whats your suggestions for heads and not breaking the bank.

ls6 #243 heads flow the same as your 317's but will increase your CR quite a bit.

Go with the 243's. You can get them from patriot performance for $450 new. Talk to Gunner

I think its just dished vs flat top pistons. LQ9 is better for N/A. LQ4 is better for FI is the general concensus.

Would a set of the Dart 225s be a good head to put on a LQ4? I have some of those heads that I was going to use on my Camaro but if I don't I thought about putting them on the truck. My truck has a small cam and some shortie headers, though they would get swapped for LTs when the heads were off. How would the extra volume and increased flow of the heads I have affect the motor and it's powerband? I want to use the truck for towing it is an 03 1500 HD. Thanks
