custm, where do u live? Cause for exh. work, $100/hr. seems a bit much.
An exh. shop, national exhaust chain or at least I think they're nationwide, near me is $50-60/hr. IIRC.
Full on custom shop, maybe what u said. And it better be perfect.

 

 

I paid 430$ for 4'' mandrel bent stainless from the Y pipe back to the bumper, provided the muffler.

 

If that incl. Y-pipe, that's a steal. If not, that's still good. For 4" no less.

 

The HD is a 408 built for 350 of nitrous. Beyond finishing the engine, it is getting shaved bed parts, and needs the bed painted. I also have loose ends to finish on it along with some other possible projects.. I will probably start tightening up the loose end in nov so it will be ready when I have the cash to finish it up.

The Tahoe will get a turbo next spring. Tax money will finish the HD and possibly leave a good deal to turbo the Tahoe. Obviously we will see how the budget pans out on that one but if it wasn't hard work it wouldn't be fun. We are finaly getting ahead financialy so unless some serious **** comes out way I might be able to finish the HD before tax money gets here.

 

Well I am guessing $100 and hour because pipe doesn't cost them any more then $40,hangers might cost them $20 and the crazy ******* quoted me $350!??!?!?! I think we call that pricing your self out of the job intentionaly.

I could damn near have Chip Foose and Magnaflow guys come to my shop and build me a custom cat back for $350!

 

No Tom, I made my own Y pipe. Cut one up to make it fit the way I wanted. I have a total of 1150 in headers back, all stainless..

Have you ever wondered if maybe some shops can tell they're going to have ongoing issues with a particular customer so they just name a price they know the customer won't pay just to get rid of them?

I know I've done it. Sometimes it's just not worth it

 

When you know me you can talk smack about how I handle my self and if I would be a "problematic customer." Until then you can keep your useless comments to your self. You can talk **** about my idea's and final products but when you start talking about how I handle my self it becomes an issue. I am a very easy person to get along with, and a very courteous customer. I also go out of my way everyday for customers and don't try to make it hard for someone to make me happy. I am looking for just about the most simple exhaust job they have ever done.

I don't know if they look at the truck being custom and think I am made of money or what. Neither shop was busy, and I was very cautious with them. I simply walked in ask for what I wanted and told them I had tips that I would set because I am getting the powder coated.
