Is not living up to it's name. I love my truck but everytime somthing happens to me somthing happens to my truck, I get out of the hospital starter craps out. Not going to be getting paid for 2 weeks so anyone know any tricks? Too many years of apartment living among other things I've lost most of mechanical knowledge. We tried tapping it and that didn't do anything, any advice would be great, right now a non running truck=no job.

did you see if it's just the solenoid?
Bypass the solenoid with a screw driver and see if she kicks.

Just create a circuit between the 2 posts. One is the battery and goes into the solenoid, the other goes from the solenoid to the Starter. There should also be a smaller one between them that feeds off of your ignition switch, When it receives a signal it kicks the solenoid.
So If you connect the power to the small one and it kicks your starter might be good and you have a bad signal some where. If it doesn't just draw a circuit from the battery one to the starter one and if it kicks it's a bad solenoid. That'll at least let you move it around if you need to.

There's used starters on ebay for like $40 bucks.
