Default spark plugs ???

I've heard of people putting the NGk TR6s or TR55s in when they do a tune up because they are soo much cheaper than our stock iridiums.

What is the difference between the 2 the TR-6 and TR-55?

Are they for different applications like nitrous and F/I??

And what should I gap them too? .060 is stock would any less of a gap make any difference?

TIA
-Joshua

tr-6 is a colder plug people use for nitrous. The tr-55 is what people usually use for n/a motors.

As far as gapping them, different people say different things. I bet you'll hear between .035-.060

I would imagine so, but I wasn't sure so I left it out.

I have TR55's at .055 gap. The stock plugs I pulled out were gapped at .055. I have read on here that gapping closer to .060 helps MPG and closer to .035 helps WOT power.

Ok, I just finished up my TR-6 experiment.

I ran a set of TR6's gapped at .050, just to see the difference between my TR-55's gapped at .060. The Tr-6's came out with minimal carbon deposits and looked fairly clean for being run HARD for about 3000 miles. I was VERY UNIMPRESSED by the loss in fuel economy. It was eating me alive, guys, but that might also be due to my new clutch fan being retarded and staying engaged when it's cold Sometimes I scream at the fan to JUST SHUT THE HELL UP! GRRRRR!

Well, I swapped my TR-55's gapped at the stock .060, and they seem to have changed the exhaust note back to a higher-pitch, and the idle seems a little different than before, but it almost seems smoother when I drive it around. I'll let ya'll know how the fuel economy is later on...
