Spark plug selection?
#1
Im gonna be changing the spark plugs and wires, along with oil change tonight before i have my truck retuned tomorrow. I know this seems simple but what type of spark plugs should i use? I have heard to use oem, ive heard use platinum or iridium, etc. truck and mods are in signature. Same question for the spark plug wires, oem or aftermarket? Oil is Mobil 1 full synthetic 15w-50. thanks in advance.

I just picked up some AC Delco Iridium Professional, like 6.99 each, and some AC Delco OEM wires. My truck has 160k on it, original wires, and about 70k on the current spark plugs. I just did a cam swap not even two weeks ago and did an oil change at the same time as the swap, using 5w20. I had heard to use a thicker oil so im doing another oil change tonight to get rid of that cam "break in" oil. I dont think that the oil will hurt it til the winter time when it takes longer to heat up.

Oil thickness should depend on your bearing clearances and/or oil pressure. If your oil pressure is good with a 30 weight then you shouldn't run anything heavier. 20 weight is probably too thin. I'd use a 30 weight, or 40 in a high heat application like with a turbo. In short, I would definitely not run a 50 weight.
As for plugs I would run TR55's, they are cheap, work well, and last awhile.

Im in Kansas City and it has been around 95-100 degrees out so thats why i was thinking the 50 weight might be a good idea, but i can always return the oil and get some 30 weight if ya'll think that its a better idea
