i dont give a damn about anyones dyno numbers. they are nice to jerk off to but would rather see track perfomance

edit: just read my own post and realized it could be taken harshly...that statement isnt directed at anyones specific dyno numbers, but ive seen quite a few cars/trucks put down massive numbers and run like a pile of crap, then others drop lower than average numbers, but run like a bat outa hell.

i dropped 277hp with my full bolt on LS1. its all about picking a generous dyno. dyno's are a great tool, but should be only used as a tool.

On the other hand the smaller cam will make more usable power at a lower rpm.
There it is...

I noticed even with a "small" cam the gains don't show untill after 4000rpm

The cam in the 5.3L in my Avalanche (with a stock converter) was a 205/212, .544/.550, 114+4, and it added 15-20 RWHP/RWTQ across the entire powerband. You won't hear many guys admitting they want a cam is this small, but I don't (and didn't) care what other people think. It gave me the exact results I was looking for -- more power under the curve from idle all the way to redline.

If you want to race your truck all the time, have a high stall speed converter, and/or like living in 2500-3000 RPM and above, then you should get a bigger cam. However, if you are like me and want all-around, daily-drive power, then you might want to consider something a little more mild.

They said that in a 5000 lbs truck the 224 cam will be a complete terd and a 210-218 will be an animal all the way to 6000 rpm. Let me know what you guys all think about this. I Know I know another cam thread. But you opinions are apreciated anyways, Thanks, Jared
Thats because of the truck intake; the intake is very important and decides the power band that the cam should be matched to. If you are staying with the stock intake you dont want a cam thats gonna make power past 6000 even though its pulling out there its cut the head off the good part of the cam.

RPM range can always be matched with verter speed if your runing an auto.
