Default single 3" muffler vs 3"/2.5" dual muffler?

the shitty *** ravin single-in/dual-out muffler that was on my truck has a huge *** hole in it because the welds for one of the outlets on it completely broke out (there was no rust on it at all either). So theres a huge hole in it, and im due for inspection next month (on top of the fact that it sounds like ***). I dont have enough money to really do anything special, so i think for now i just want to get a single 3" muffler with a turn down. will i lose power doing it that way? or should i get another single in/dual out muffler and put my tailpipes back on? Also, I noticed that mufflers come in different lengths, what effect does the length have? im pretty much decided that im going to go with magnaflow no matter what i do.

The longer the muffler the quieter it will be. Either way you go, the dual out, or single out, power should be about the same. i think id just get the 3 inch in out, and do the turndown. That would be the most simple thing to do.

For what it's worth, here's another vote for the 3" single in/out Magnaflow. Mine has the inlet and outlet offset so there's a slight turn inside the muffler. I have the 22" muffler so it's fairly quiet compared to the shorter ones.

Definitely the single 3 in/out. I would go center/center 18", but you might like it a little quieter.

I got the smallest 3" in/out. its loud when you get on it, but other than that, you don;t even know its there. I'm very happy, and I'm gettin old.
