Default Single 3 Inch Or Dual 2.5s, Which Is Better?

Going to swap in a 6.0 in a RCSB with a TR224, Bolt-Ons, 3200 Stall and 3.73s. Which do you all recommend? Is there much difference? Anyone tried both and prefer one over the other? Why? Thanx fellas, ROB.

The true dual 2.5" is set up more for what your 6.0L will put out since there is nearly 40% more tube area for the exhaust gases to travel down. 2.5" true duals will leave room for later modifications while not going too big now. 2.5" true duals are good for 400-450hp ranges which is probably where your 6.0L will be sitting at the flywheel. Comparatively speaking on noise, the true duals typically will idle more aggressively and have a lower note...but a lot has to do with the muffler you chose and how well the idle is tuned by the PCM.

True duals are going to have a better, more distinct sound, although some singles do sound good.

As inchup said, true duals will also give you more room for increased power down the road.

I have done both, on many vehicles, I like the true duals better.

I have two dual's 3" magnaflow 22" and an X pipe ahead with 3" magnaflow spun cats and am very happy with the sound. I am sure two duals with your setup would be nice, just put an X pipe.

For a 6.0, I'd go with the dual 2.5's, that's what I'd like to run if I ever can afford to get my LQ9 together. With my current N/A 5.3 though, I'm running a single 3" setup (it's a single in dual out muffler, that I'd like to swap for a si/si, but I don't want to spend the cash on exhaust for the 5.3 if possible)

I have the stuff to run true 3" duals, but will probably take it down to 2.5" after the cats.

Guess I'm the od ball. I ran single 3" on my 6l set up. Similar to what you're gonna have. 223/226 cam and 3200 stall. It was good enough to allow my 5000lb 4x4 to get in the 12's. Guess it wasn't too restrictive
