Nosie is still there though. So I put my hazards on, pull over, pop the hood, the engine is still running, wtf, everything looks fine, although it was still dark outside. So I hop back in, get off at the next exit, pull into the Mobil and sure as ****, the belt is shredded. Hmmm.
350 miles on the gates belt, sounds like a dud to me. So I call Magnacharger, get the part #, go to Napa, $45 later (that's with a military discount) I'm on my way.
Replaced the belt, all is well.
Any Radix Homies ever get the same thing?
I'm thinking faulty belt, as 350 miles just isn't that many.
thoughts?
If you have an auto belt tensioner like I have on my Vortech SC make sure the tensioner is putting enough tension on the belt...meaning that when you pry it back to slip the belt on that it still has more than half of it tension left to press on the belt...if you get down below this figure it allows the belt to slip causing extra heat which will over heat the belt and damage the rubber and fiberglass strains! On mine the belt that came with my new bracket kit was to long and I had to get one .5" shorter.

Also, make sure that all the pullies line up...when you get a few miles on the belt check for ware and recheck your tensioner...if you need a shorter belt you can always use the longer one as a spare.

There are only a couple of belt mfg plants in the US. Gates is one of them and they are huge. If there name is on it it is top quality. Yours may have been a fluke?

I'm chaulking this up as a faulty belt.
Now if the the second belt goes, well, then I might have a problem.
Pulley alignment is spot on, there are no visible wear patterns yet (2800 miles on truck, 350 miles on SC kit)
The tensioner might be of issue, but I honestly believe Magnuson has done their homework quite well and this is not a possible cause, In my mind, as of now.
No bearings felt grabby or made noise.
seems like a total fluke to me.
we will see.

This is the first belt we have heard of that was lost with a Radix kit. Please keep and eye on it and let me know how it goes. In the unlikely event that another belt is lost, we will need your truck in for a day to check it out.

Thanks

Just to make this clear, I am not saying the Radix kit is responsible.

It was a belt failure, pure and simple, like anything mass produced, especially in the "consumables" category, there are duds.

Nope, 1 year warranty. They may have had a lifetime warranty back when they were Hi-Lo, but they are only one year now. Trust me, I used to work there
