I'd save my money and get some mid/ling tube headers.

I took mine completely off because I didnt have any room. If I do want cats again, I'll need to get some smaller than factory ones.

You know, everybody always dogs shorties on here, saying that you'll only get 5hp. Who posted that dyno result. I'm sure it was before I was here, and I've checked the archives. I really want to do headers, and I know there's a lot of power left on the table there. But one guy posts that his truck didn't see any gains and all of the sudden shorties are crap. Who was this person? Was it several people? I need a link, because its bugging me.

I can't justify spending the outrageous price for ASM's or TOG's when I could do a 6.0 swap for that price. Plus IMO for that price, the quality control could be a lot better. Thorely's are cheaper, but by the time you add the ceramic coating, you're looking at close to 700 bucks. I just don't get it.

Ive got the same dilemma. I cant spend 1300.00 on LT's. The Edelbrocks look attractively priced at 290.00 ceramic coated. If anything I have got to believe tha the heat dissipation even with shorties must be better. Im currently swapping from 5.3 to 6.0. With FI, I need to keep the engine running as cool as possible. Any Thoughts?

The gains with 1-5/8 shorties are probably better than with the cheaper 1-1/2 shorties that you see on ebay. I dont think they wil lever match the potential of LT's, but they have to be worth more than 5 hp.

I'm more interested in the torque curve. The shorties will bring the torque in ealier I don't need the high rpm gains of full lenght . I'm never there. IMO shorties are better for off roading or daily driver. Better throttle reponse at low rpms were my 4x4 needs it. slight HP gains also prolly 6-10 . Now on my v8 s-blazer 2wd 3" drop I run hooker full lenght for the advantages they give me for racin.
