Question Shopping For Torque

I am looking for anything that will make me a lot of torque. Any suggestions besides a Yank TT3000, because thats on the way. I thought about shorties maybe. Thanks for advice

Shorties won't give a big gain. I would go with long tubes if you want headers. Cam, nice low duration 208/212, 212/218 hi lift with about 112-114 lsa. 4.10's with a posi would be a nice addition also. You also might want to think about a Transgo and billet servo's or vette servo's with the additional power you'll be putting out.

Kinda like mudz said. If you want headers go with long tubes. Shortys have little gain.

A cam would be your best bet, but due to the fact that you have a 3000 stall you can go with a larger cam. The Small cams give a little better down low, but you wont be using down low with a 3000 stall. The smallest i'd go with would be 212/218 high lift with a 112 LSA. That will give you some very strong mid power.

Also 4.10 gears would help out.

Your off to a good start with mods so far, good luck. What are your performance goals by the way?

I am not really out to have a monster street truck, but i want a sleeper that when i step on the gas, really wants to go. I think i am just after a big torque gain for the 4.8. I drove a 5.3 and there was a noticeable difference in torque. I have been looking into rear ends and was looking at an eaton 3.73. Would that be a noticeable difference over a 3.42? I have read in other posts on this site that a 4.10 will kill my gas mileage, and being a college student on my own nickle and dime, i really cant afford to let my milege tank that much.

4:10 or 3:90 are the way to go. $:10 you might see a 1 mpg difference. not really a big difference.

Sounds like the 4.10 is going to be the one. I was looking in the forced induction and there is a vid with the 5.3 with a STS on it and i was wondering what gains it showed on peoples trucks. I also saw that the filter was underneath the truck by the TC, and the site said it wouldnt get water in it but i wasnt sure about that
