Default SES light, MAP code...help?

since i installed the new Comp 220/224 on a 112 LSA cam and PCMforLess tune, the truck has run great.
last week it set the SES light on, after driving it for a week w/ no light on. got a code for the MAP sensor range/performance (code PO106P). was reading 16 KPS, way low. so i put on a brand new MAP sensor and cleared the code out.
drove it the next day, light came back on and sure enough it was the same code. the truck still seems to run ok. cleared it out again, but came back the next day. doesnt set it off until i come to a stoplight and idle in gear when its fully hot.

ive tried to find a vaccum leak but cant. sprayed carb cleaner on everything, nothing makes a difference.
the thing pulls 14" of vaccum at idle in neutral/park. in gear it only pulls 10.5" of vaccuum.

how do i get this code to keep from being set? and why is it being set?

it does smell pretty rich out the exhaust. first thought was O2 sensors, but there's no code for them being set.

a carbureted intake and a Holley are looking pretty tempting about right now for this truck
anyone help me out here? thanks, CHIP

I've got the same problem and I haven't figured it out either. Sometimes I have the code and sometimes I don't, but like you say it drives fine. I'll keep watching this thread to see if someone throws up a suggestion...Zed

all the people on this board w/ cam swaps and noone has found a solution to this problem?? or are me and Storm the only two that have had it?

about all i can think of to fix it is raise the idle up a couple hundred RPM.

i drove it today and the light went off while i was cruising down the highway.
as far as i can tell, if i kick it out of gear every time i stop it wont set the code. the thing just pisses me off every time the light comes on.

but if i raise the idle up it wont sound as good CHIP

I'd talk to Bryan at PCMforLess, maybe he can adjust the parameters that set the code. Sounds like the PCM is just picking up on the lower vacuum characteristics of the larger cam and seeing it as a fault. It can probably be tuned out.

storm5.3: I'd ask Allen the same thing...not sure what cam you have, but your sig says you have a vacuum leak

i talked to Bryan when the light first came on, he said it must be a bad MAP sensor, he was wrong. he also said there wasnt really anything he could do w/ the tune to remedy this problem, if i understood him correctly.

i dont understand why he couldnt change the parameters like you said. might have to give him another call

ive driven it for a couple days since the light went off, hasnt come back on yet...but i am putting it in neutral at every redlight so the vaccum doesnt stay low for long. its fine if its pulling 14" in neutral/park, but when its in gear at 10.5" itll set the code if you let it idle for long.

POS computers. EFI is nice but ill take a carburetor any day of the week on something that isnt stock. CHIP
