Default SES Code Question

I have a 2000 5.3 Silverado.. My SES indicator light came on, and when I got my truck hooked up to the scanner it read code PO300. The scanner states that the engine is misfiring. The advice I was given was all I needed to do was change my plugs. Can anyone confirm this??? Could it be my camshaft sensor, or would that have read a different code? Thanks for the help!!!!
