I've looked at some truck brochures and it looks like a SCSB 4*4 should weigh somewhere around 4400-4500 pounds.
Does anyone with this truck have any hard numbers on the weight? If they weigh too much I'm just going to forget about the truck idea and slap the motor in my SS.
Is it true that the stepside bed weighs less than the fleetside?
Weight is the biggest killer for performance there is so I'm looking for the lightest 4*4 truck to do this project with. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Thanks

Why a 4x4 ? The stepside is about 200#'s less. With the kind of torque you could be getting, I'm not sure the transfer case on a 4x4 would last very long.

4wd launches are my main motivation. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
It may kill the top end a little but, have you ever tried catching somebody that catches you off guard at a light. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
If I stay N/A I don't think the transfer case will have too much trouble with the torque. It lives behind some heavy *** trucks with the 8.1L torque monster pretty good.(Although I will be putting out a little more power than they do..hehehe) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I will also be lightening the truck up as much as possible so that will take some stress off the driveline.
2wd + tons of power + street = <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> ³ <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
Look like I'll be getting the stepside if it weighs 200#s less. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Thanks
Johnnie
