Default Saw 10 1/2 Psi today wth the procharger

Well i on my way to work this morning.the weather was the the coldest the truck has ever seen nice chilly canadain summer morning around around 55f or so nice so i decided to hammer it
the truck was the strongest i have ever felt it
the boost guage climbed to 10.5 Psi!!untill the 1-2 shift kicked in this is with stock shift pionts at 5800 rpm .i also heard something i have never heard before between shifts the blow off valve went off between the 1-2 shift crazy
well my question is ...
Should i be worried that my truck is seein too much boost ?
am i gonna smoke something at these levels
the truck is intercooled which helps I'm sure
Has anybody done a Hyde test on these trucks with a supercharger too see how much boost they can take before they Blow ?
I can't wait too see what I'm gonna do at the track I definatly feel the 12's coming
think i might have a chance in catching the oxidizr with some tunning done ?

Jim

Hey Ski your supercharger is not nearly as rough on stuff, as NOS. It slowly builds to power not an instant Hit of max power, i would think it would last no problem with 10 psi, and shuld run pretty good, have you dyno tested it with 10 psi , i would be curios to see what your truck makes on motor then add the belt...

man thats sweet. have you ever checked how much back pressure you are getting from your exhaust?

do you have a fuel pressure gauge or autotap or anything? you should check to be sure you have enough fuel supply to support that ammount boost. other than that i dont really see why it would be harmfull with the low compression our trucks have.

definatly go get some tuning done to it as well

well my atap and Ls1 edit are on the way
I set my Fuel presure to 59psi at idle and i have a external fuel pump that came with the kit i think I'm running pretty rich .
when running rich what colour should the exhaust gas be ?
should it smell like gas
my Autometer Air fuel guage say on WOT that I'm running really rich
Soon as Edit and Atap show up I'll be gettin the truck Dyno'd and dialed in try and book a day at the dyno
Never checked the back preasure I've called around to see if anybody has one they reply with Exhaust Back presure Guage ?????????huh
well hopfully soon I'll get some numbers with all the new mods that i have done

Did you look into the Vortech system @ all? I've been looking into both, and other then the self-contained oiling system for the Procharger, and the air:air intercooler, i dont think theres an extreme difference...

I'm waiting for an Email back from Vortech concerning a T-trim system for the Vortec 6000. That and i'm tryin to draw up plans for a larger aftercooler resevouir in the bed...(which is getting hard...) My goal is 515rwhp off a Vortec 6000 one of my friends thinks i'm going to have about 100+rwhp more than i'm planning, which isn't a bad thing @ all lol. Fuel system and everything will be built to handle a lot more then i'm putting out. Just wondering why you chose the ATI over the Vortech.

Well I went with the Procharger becuase of the Intercooler and cooler intake charge
that and i got a good deal on the kit ..The Ati kit needs a little bit of tweaking to get it to it's full potential
I also notice that there is alot of F-body guys running this same blower and showing some good gains on it
I would recommend you Upgrade to the D1-sc blower if your after some big numbers
To make 500RWhp I think your going to need more fuel for sure A built tranny Unless your have the 4l80e wich will also need some beefing up
Then you'll need tunning to get the most outta the truck
there is Lots to consider when doing a build up on our trucks
Does the Vortech come with a hand held programmer to tune the engine ?
Ati doesn't use acomputer programmer just an Fuel managment unit works off vacum from the intake very simple
For the record my truck put down 366Rwhp and 362rwtq with only an 80mm bbk TB with a 5.3L
i read a post on a dyno site of a 2001 2500 with a p1sc pulled 366rwhp and 407rwtq it hard a magnflow exhaust web page
Let me know if you have any further questions on my kit

Thats cool, and no i dont think the Vortech comes w/ a programmer or anything. But i'm going to try my best to get an aftercooler setup. Try and run a larger resevouir in the bed, and have a ball valve to drain the water out after runs and everything.

And, @ the moment i dont really have any other questions...i know this will be a long drawn out process being i've got a few other things holding be back @ the moment, but it'll be a quick SOB when i'm thru .

And i've heard good/bad w/ the 4L60E. LPE uses a Rossler 4L60E in the TT 427 Sonoma and TT 427 C5, and i'm sure that would be pretty pricey to attain, so a 4L80E might be a better bet to attain. Going to prolly try for a moser 12 bolt out back too to make sure the rear end is built enough to handle the power i want. Again, i've gotten some variables down, just not everything. Still got a ways away...if you've got any insight, or want to know what i'm leaning towards, i'd actually apprecite talkin to someone thats gone the same route as i'm lookin towards.
