safe rpm?

Default safe rpm?

hey i have an 06 sierra 5.3. righ tnow i have gibson shorties cat back exhuast and intake. im buying hp tuners next, then tranny work, then heads and cam (dont know what cam yet). i was wonndering whats a safe rpm to run in these motors at, what do you guys have your rev limit set at?

I don't have a cam and I am shifting at 6100. Alot of guys with cams and upgraded valvetrains are taking theirs up to 6500 and beyond...

Stock transmission - line pressure bumped up - no TM shifting a 6200RPM
I am doing a 4L80E swap soon because the 4L60E will not like what I am building to put in front of it.

I'm shifting at 6400 with my cam, rev limiter is at 6600 because my converter will want to "flare" at the shift.... I dont want to hit the limiter after the shift...

It depends on what springs you go with. I think a few of us run the Comp 918's and spin them up ~6500

so pretty much if i build the valvetrain to handle it, i can set my rev limit at 6500 and shouldnt have to worry about it?
