Default running cooler without fan shroud

today i took off both the upper and lower parts of the fan shroud to get ready for my electric fans.i didnt get to install them today though. but when i was driving around my engine temp was a little lower than ever before. usually after my engine heats up it is a little bit above the 185* mark with my 160* thermostat i have. well today it was a little bit below the 185* mark. does anyone have any autotap numbers to prove this or am i just smoking crack?

Cant say here, but I did a test last week.

Mid 80s temp outside 1/2 hour of freeway driving, modified t-stat, A/C on:

Day 1, using my electric fans, autotap showed coolant temp near 180*. It would slowly creep up to 185* if I was in traffic. On the dash, the needle was just to the right of the big mark ~ 185

Day 2, slapped the clutch fan and shroud back on. Even at 70+ on the freeway, autotap showed my coolant near 190*. The dash showed the temp almost to the stock position to the left of 210*.

I was suprised. I thought that if anything, the stock shroud would make sure more air went through the radiator. Needless to say, I put the electricsa back on the next morning. I will do this again in the heat of summer.
