Default Rocker arm question

When I pulled my valve cover the other day to check and make sure I didn't have a broken valvespring (having alot of valvetrain noise), I didn't see any broken, but I did notice that some of the rocker arms had some play in them. They move left to right, not up, down, in, or out. I torqued them all down to spec and used locktyte. Is it normal for the rocker arms to have side to side play in them? Btw, the bolts holding them all down are still very tight.

Heres a pic of what I mean, and where it is moving. It is only moving a little bit, but I am thinking this might be where my valvetrain noise is coming from, unless it is bad lifters.

Is this normal?

Yes, mine moved the same way, even when tightened. I'm sure there is a maximum movement spec, but I don't know it.

you may want to try a 7.425" pushrod if you aren't using one now. That's what comp recommends.

Yes, there will be some side to side movement in the rockers, that's OK

+1 I think you may be missing something. Not installing the rocker pedestal would definitely cause them to be loose and be extremely audible.

Edit:

Just read your other post

That's a picture of an LS7 head. They don't use pedestals, the rocker arm pivot sits on a saddle machined into the head. You can also see the valve stem cap on the titanium intake valve to keep it from mushrooming.
