Default Rich mixture

I just got my canned 5.3 back up and running again, sold my cai to someone, so I just threw a filter on the throttle body since I’m speed density. But would that cause rich mixture?? Out the whole it’s boggling, it never did that, it ran like raped ape before, lost a race over the weekend cause of it

I could only see that if the filter is too small or restrictive.

But how are you in the know of it's it's running rich? Do you have a wideband o2 sensor that is showing it go really rich before leveling out?

Have you confirmed it's running rich with a wideband, black smoke? Changing the air inlet tube size or eliminating it altogether you're changing the air volume calculations the engine is taking in and in turn skewing the commanded AFR. You're either going to have to re-dial in the speed density map or replace the CAI with the exact setup as before. Do you have a wideband and HP Tuners?

I have a wide band but not hp tuners, not yet.. it just had a filter on throttle body for now, I know I need to get a pipe on, but wanna make sure that’s the problem. I was missing with truck earlier and found a cracked brake booster seal( the one to intake to booster) it helped little. In drive way foot braking the truck give it gas it good let off it will down 11-12’s. When I racing this weekend, I didn’t foot brake stall up truck afraid of truck spinning like been do , it went straight but bogging out the whole, 10 Escalade 6.2 all wheel drive( think he sprayed) killed me out the hole, got me bout 7 or so out took me bout 330 mark to rial him in still me got by bout 3

You know when you make a bunch of changes your supposed to tune it then street race. Not the other way around. This is why people who tune often get blamed for people’s misjudgment.

If you know it is that Rich then why are you out street racing it?

What does the wideband say when you are getting the bog? Everyone here thinks that it's a lean condition, especially since you said that fixing the brake booster seal improved the condition.

forget what it does when you let off. What’s it do when the load is applied? It takes a pretty rich condition to bog, however it doesn’t have to be that lean to create a bog.
