Default replacing lifters?

I was talking to my step dad and he does mechanical work for a living for 20 plus years and also works on Harley Motorcycles as his own side business. Im gonna go over and he has a compression check kit that we are gonna check my truck with. I told him I think I might have a bad lifter and he said that you should be able to replace a bad lifter by pulling the entire intake off I told him that I thought that the heads had to be pulled for that and he insisted that is not true. I used the search tool and so far from what I know, the heads have to be pulled to replace a bad lifter. If he is wrong, what can I say to make him understand, he probably hasnt worked on a Gen III to this extent before.

Thanks

yes you need to pull the heads off for that just tell him that it is a totally different motor than a old school 350 there is nothing that interchanges between the two

If I remember right the lifters come in the retainers and they are shaped so they will only come out the top of the cylinder deck, which requires removing the heads as you know.

Hi, Why Do You Want To Replace Your Lifters? I Work At The Local Dealer And We Have Had Several Complaints With Noisy Lifters. If You Have Changed Your Air Intake System With An Aftermarket One, It Can Cause Valve Train Resonance. Also, What Oil Filter Do You Use, I Have Seen Several Problems Be Cured With An Acdelco Pf46 Part # 88984215. And Some Engines Are Noisier Than Others On Initial Crank Up. Hope This Info Helps

I have lost some very noticeable low end power and I am doing a compression check. I have replaced the plugs, wires, pcv valve, fuel filter, ran seafoam and still no power off of the line like it used to have. About the time I noticed the power loss, my engine was also ticking really bad and has been now for 3 months. I dont know if it is a bad lifter or what. If the compression test turns something up than I will go from there. If its a simple fix than I will have it done, if its major not gonna worry about it; I allready have the money for a 6.0 swap.
