Default Rebuild 6.0L or swap in 8.1L?

I have been a little worried about the logevity of my motor. My truck has the famous CSK, which will probably reduce life, plus I am running the blower. When the motor does go, what should I do next? I seen here that people have bored the 6.0L out to a 372" and have added other goodies. Then I hear people comment on how they love the 8.1L and say the mileage is about the same as the 6.0L.

Here is my question. Would a bored and built 6.0L perform better (with my powerdyne) than an 8.1L? How much would it cost to do it? Or would the 8.1L be better and have it adapted to the truck (would reuse the blower)?

Thanks,

Can you reuse that blower on the 8.1? They are not the same design as the 4.8/5.3/6.0 Gen III engines. I would rebuild the 6.0. More part friendly.

I did a 6.0L build up on my Firehawk..

6.0L Iron block 40" over with the stock 5.7L crankshaft, that measures out to 371.? close to 372c.i.

Eagle Rods, Boost Pistons, all the goodies...ATI D-1SC 12psi...

The 8.1 has CSK and oil burning issues also.My 8.1 knocks like a diesel for 20-30 seconds on start up.It burns a qt of 10w40 every 500-700 miles in town, and has since new(50,000 miles now).Other than these annoying problems I love the truck.

i would stick with the 6.0, i am buying a newer HD shortly and will be shoping for a 6.0. i haven't seen anyone make a 8.1 run REALLY hard yet and have to wonder if they are capiable. i know the 6.0 can run hard.
