Rebuild 5.3 w/ forged internals or 6.0
would it be a better idea to rebuild my 5.3 with forged pistons, rods and whatever else to handle n20 or S/C or just go with a new 6.0 block. What else would I need for the 6.0 swap?? What would I be looking at in terms of cost for both and durability?? Im just trying to get some idea of what Im looking at.

ok this is what I would do, go buy a full 6.0 motor( a pull out) you can either stick that in your truck for now or rebuild it. Pound for pound go with the 6.0 and mod it while its out of the truck. 5.3 is a good motor but you'll blow it and it's not worth a darn even repairing. My opinion of course.

Go with the 6.0 block the 01 and later ones are a bolt in.Go with a cam and heads combo with forged pistons if you plan to spray it.Put that baby on an engine stand until you can finish your build the do the swap then you're not down for very long.

I'm thinking about building a 5.3 block because of $$$$$
I can get a block for $100, use the heads I'm runnin' and I'm out for the forged internals and the machine work. If money were no object I'd get a 6.0.

Hey guys, i can't tell you which is better the built 5.3 or the 6.0. I've got a '00 GMC 4.8 in my truck right now, but i want a 6.0, but i don't know where to find one, i haven't had any luck at the late model salvage yards around here. If any of you guys know where they are available at please let me know. I would like to have a bare block if i can find one. Also i would like to know if my current auto transmission will work with the 6.0. Also what about the computer, does it have to be replaced
By the way my buddy spays his 5.3 and hasn't had any problems yet, he sprays a 150 shot, but i think he's "Spayin' & Prayin'"

Look up a guy in the classifieds or ls1 parts for sale section named Valvegod. I know he has 6.0's and brian@ap-engineering can help you out with a good priced forged 6.0 if you want. Welcome to the boards btw.
