#1
I have seen alot of people post times on other sites and mention they have the "ram air" mod.
does anyone know what it is and how it is done? If there is a ram air mod, can u do it with the upd? <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />

It's a pseudo (sp?) very turbulant ram air mod in most cases. What some guys have done is cut out the bottom of their airbox and ran some type of flexable duct from it to one of the light/towhook openings in the lower valance. A few have actually stove piped it in with PVC which make the air run much smoother and much better way to do it. Now that said, the filter IMO will act as a type of difuser by smoothing out some of the turbulant air, but it is still better to use some type of material with smooth walls and as srtaight and few hard bends as possible.

At one point, I was actually going to attempt this "mod"......Hardest part is finding an inlet that not only looks "factory/custom", but can take in good airflow at the same time.
I infact still have the air duct. After searching, and searching, I found literally, THE perfect air duct. Not at home depot, not at loews, but in Canada. It costed me a ****** penny or two to get those damn things, and now I'm not even using them.
But lets just say, I could tell you these things we're designed for the 99+ silverado fog light openings, and I assure you, you'd believe me. Funny enough, these are made specifically and only for "ram air" setups......Fiberglass with a 4" Inlet, and the exact circumfrence of the fog light openings. Still amazes me.
Shiet, I should start selling these things on here for those interested......Volant sure as hell wouldn't like that.

yeah thats the site
speeder, its the inlet and only the inlet. They are custom made, and not exactly cheap, not to mention shipping from canada. I admit though I gave in and ordered one, simply because i was tired of searching and this was exactly what was needed.
If you have any knowledge in fiberglass you could easily replicate one yourself, the dimensions are right there. However, i'd go with 3 1/2 x 8 1/2, since some definite squeezing will be needed to get it on as is. I honestly didnt find anything at any of the hardware stores, that I wouldnt be embarassed lifting the hood for.
