I'm an old man as compared to some of the youngins on here, in my younger days and in my older years, I have yet to see a supercharged car or truck break lose on the dyno and smoke it, I have yet seen a supercharged street car or street truck pump out 1100, 1200, or even 1350 hp at the rear wheels. parish's truck is amazing at what it can do as a turbo,
but again I have yet to see any one on here with a roots supercharged truck make the same horse power and torque as he can. if they are then none of them is posting it.

our sultan friend from over seas is going turbo, I have no doubt that he can get all of the parts needed to make the turbo work for max horse power, but I think the tuning issue for him may be a problem, if no one has the right soft ware or the knowledge to use it right, he may be wasting his money.

I'll play this game. I lurk 99.99% of the time, but I can't resist this one.

Since you won't take vehicles without pistons as an example of turbo superiority, how about a lowly diesel?

http://www.bath.ac.uk/~ccsshb/12cyl/

A mere 108,920 horsepower at a mind-numbingly slow 102 rpm. It's even reliable. Plus, it's a diesel. Do you really want to talk low end torque? No, it won't fit in your truck, but it makes a pretty good example for turbos.

Besides the parasitic drag drawback to blowers, that belt has one other large drawback. Post as many pics of Top Fuel drag cars with huge roots blowers as you want. Just remember this:

Great picture man

My buddy has a twin-screw type blower on his Viper and he tossed a belt and broke a pulley thur. night after one of our GTGs. Luckily he was only a block from home.

Not to bring this back to the argument table. But every comparison that has been brought up is pretty much useless. Especially the test that someone spoke about where they tested the two supercharges & turbo at 15psi. Even if the boost is identical we are still talking different flow characteristics in CFM. If you could produce a test on 3 identical engines, each one powered by a different source, roots, centerfugal, turbo and each one was set to produce a specific output constant across all three platforms, then and only then could you make a true comparison based on efficiency and parasitic loss.

info on efficiency is reasonably well published. I don't think the discussion was ever which was the most efficient. The way I understood it to be was which form of FI was best for the street, based on various factors.
Beyond that, the convo of whether the turbo or S/C produced the most power came up; hence, F16's and Top Fuel Dragsters
