you wouldn't happen to have any logs of the incident? if so, anything out of the ordinary?

Don't worry about boost level for this combo, it was running great. Pretty sure a rod bolt let loose on decel...

how many rpms where you/was he at? there seems to always be some knock retard associated with an abrupt decel(false or otherwise)....what was the scenario exactly? I'm assuming the tune was still good to go.

oh dude, that sucks. i've gotten lots of 408 price quotes over the past few weeks, confused as hell. Now I'm trying to decide to go NA, keep the tiny whipple, go turbo, or get into a procharger. ahhhhhh, PM me if you want some info on the quotes i've gotten.

Never seen any knock retard before on decel...Did not know some have issues...

I think Cory had let off for a few seconds, 2 or 3, maybe 4000 Rpm or so when it let loose in 3rd. Unfortunately, stock rod bolts letting loose are more common on decel with FI...The sad part is we were just talking about the problem some have with stock rod bolts again, that night....Looks so far, that the rod let go and got caught by the crank, pushing the rod against the block snapping the rod in half and pushed the oil pick up tube out the side of the pan and the rod out the bottom. Anyway, we'll know more after pulling the engine and looking... Looks like some of thisis needed

At the track, I regularly show a couple of degrees of knock retard on the decel, right after WOT.

on the bright side it makes for a good reason to go bigger

Glad to see you're taking it well. Breaking something major always sucks but it's ones ability to literally pick up the pieces and keep on running that defines you.

Can't wait to see your new project

Awe man that sucks!!! Makes my broken piston look Wonder if the laughing gas had anything to do with weakening parts? I put in Katech rod bolts when I swapped mine just for that reason. At least it didn't take out any steering/braking parts after it let go. Good luck with the new build!
