Default radix intercooler too small

hey i just put a radix on my truck and already found out the intercooler is too small and the one i have is their large one .so has any one had a bigger one built or swapped one on from something else? i found a small radiator that is used on dragsters and its about twice the size of the radix but how big is to big? worried about blocking too much air from the engines radiator and tranny cooler.plus has anyone put a bigger resevior tank on i thought about maybe a 3 or 4 gallon tank to have more liguid to dissapate the heat. any thoughts?

If youre talking about the heat exchanger and you have the larger one, its plenty big...people have been talking lately about the intercooler core inside the manifold - is this what youre thinking of?

2toneblown has done a larger reservior, he'll probably chime in...

How did you find out it was too small?

i am talking about the heat exchanger that is mounted in front of the radiator and i found out it was to small after my iat's would get over 105 degrees when the outside tempeture is only about 55 degrees and the guy thats doing my tuning is telling me that for him to give my engine more timing so i can make more power that i am going to have to keep the iat's down inturn he recommended a bigger exchanger and a electric fan mounted on it .

There is NO need for a larger H/E. The one that comes with the kit it more than big enough to get the job done. If you are seeing 105* IAT's then you are WAY fine! Dont waste your money, and be careful with a tuner that says you need a bigger H/E to get more timing in there too.

Were your IATs lower to start with then rose to 105? Or were they around 100 no matter what?

The last time I hooked the Predator up to monitor the IAT's, it was about 120. 105 is plenty cool for a supercharged application.

With my electric fans filling the engine bay with heat and my open filter intake, I've seen my IATs in the 150s during the summer in traffic.

O yes I put a larger water resevor on mine and it dropped the temp of the engine alot. It just alows more water flow and gives it time to cool off. I highly recommend it and its not too expensive

55 ambient to 105deg seems a bit high to me. True 105deg IATs are nothing but his rise in temp seems a lil off.

In 68deg temps I was seeing 107deg IATs after a WOT run from 20mph-100mph on 13psi.

A 50+deg jump seems a bit much on anything lower than 8psi.

This is on the 6psi kit?
