Radix on..... First impressions

I got the SC on my Avalanche late yesterday. I am a little disappointed in the feel down low but I am sure this a combo of the TM and how heavy this pig really is. Now from about 50-90 feels much better. I am thinking about saving for a built trans and mild stall converter but I don't want to take any of my towing capacity away. My car and trailer weigh about 5000 lbs. and I tow quite a bit. Why can't I be spending all this money on my car and not my tow truck?

It should move pretty good for a 6000+ pound truck. TM is the biggest problem with these trucks, but it is there to keep the parts in the trans not on the work bench. Have you done any 1/4 mile runs with and without the blower? Your AssDyno should tell you its working! Where are you located?

It should still roast the tires from a stand still. It should lite the tires up pretty good. I know if you really aren't happy with the bottom end, or just want to improve it a little more, you can add a torque converter and that will really wake things up.

I'm in the Dallas area. The install was done by a guy in my dealership that does all the SC installs for our JG Performance trucks. I was going to do it myself but I am taking it on the Hot Rod Power Tour next week. I have been working so much I didn't have time to get it done.
As for spinning the tires not even close. I was hoping for the capability for a little controled wheel spin if the need arises.
As for upgrades it was just shipped from Magnecharger a few days ago so it should be a updated as it can get.
I have never had it to any track. It is bone stock except the Magnaflow exhaust system.

I have let a few guys from work ride with me and they think it is fast as hell.
I hate to see them if they really rode in a truly fast car.

Hello gearheads78, its good to see another DFW area truck guy on here.
Just as most of these guys have said, torque management will be your biggest issue. If I were you, I'd have a tech from the service department take a ride with you and watch it with a Tech2. See what kind of timing you are getting in that dead area and see if it registers any knock retard.
I'll probably meet in Arlington for the power tour kick off and possibly make the first leg of the trip. I'll look for an Av with a Radix.

My Radix-equipped Avalanche will not turn the tires at all from a stand still. Please know that the 305/50-20's are probably no easy rubber to turn, but I would have thought that $5000 later, I would at least be able to 'lay a patch' as we used to say back in Michigan growing up. The only time it will turn them over is when I am turning the vehicle, and obviously that is not the time to keep them turning.
Your experience is very similar to mine. I went from a dyno shop with a 'before' dyno run, to a shop for the Radix install, back to the same dyno shop for an 'after' run, for a net RWHP increase of 60HP. Very disappointed to say the least. A day at Magnuson clearing up a few issues and tuning made it better, but there is no way I went from a 60 RWHP increase to a 120 RWHP increase, as everyone (i.e. TByrne, Chapman Chevrolet, AZ Speed) is claiming the Radix hands you. Unfortunately, there are not enough before/after dynos like mine to give a true indication of what the Radix actually delivers.
Part of the problem I believe is overpromotion at the manufacturer level, part of the problem is the communication of the overpromotion by vendors, and the rest is the fact that there are no real-world numbers (either before/after dynos or before/after 1/4 mile times) to give an accurate depiction of what the Radix actually adds. Those people who do have dyno numbers usually roll into their numbers other things (like head and cam installs), making the job of knowing what part of that is the Radix next to impossible.
My advice to you would be to get a custom tune through Nelson or someone who can do LS1Edit tuning, either on the dyno or at the track. The Superchips tune is extremely conservative, and there is a lot left on the table as far as gains. They keep the Air/Fuel rich, and the timing is conservative as well. This would be the next best thing to do with your truck.
Please keep us posted as you find and do more.

I gained almost 2 seconds when I put mine on. I also did a small cam at the time though. I have read/heard of guys getting every bit of a second and a half in the 1/4 with just the blower though. One guy on here recently got just over a second and a half spinning through the first bit of the track.
BigTex is right ... TqM is going to play hell in getting everthing out of it. Watch the timing on it and see if it holds steady up around 15* on take off and 18 up top. That should be what the stock tune will give you. Check your IAT readings too. In this kind of heat (80-90*) they shouldn't get over 170 on a good full throttle run. Also check and make sure all the plugs are plugged up properly.
